The Full Story

Description of Course: The Psalms/Tehillim is the source of much of the devotional material for every denomination, sect, and branch of Judaism and Christianity. Please join me as we take a deep dive into this ancient source of inspiration. We will study psalm 23 as a group. After an overview of the Psalms/Tehillim in general, we will begin with the original Hebrew text; translating and interpreting in a word-by-word, line-by-line analysis. Then we will introduce more interpretations and translations; from the familiar King James Bible to Norman Fischer’s Buddhist inspired offering and concluding with Bobby McFerrin’s feminist inspired rendition. Finally all participants will write their own psalm/vision-song, inspired by our study. We will then share and discuss our personal “offering” on the fourth and final session.

Students Will: Learn the significance and interpretations of the Psalms/Tehillim.  They will also learn how to write their own psalm/vision song.
